UPF-Ecuador Message on the April 16 Earthquake

Message to our fellow victims of the April 16, 2016 earthquake in Ecuador:

Expressions of Solidarity

Members of the Universal Peace Federation in Ecuador are deeply concerned by the devastation and suffering caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Saturday, April 16, 2016. The lives of hundreds of our citizens, living in the northern coastal provinces of Ecuador, were lost, with Manabi province the most affected. We express our deepest sympathy to each and every family and to the provincial and national authorities in our country. Ecuador is in mourning and the Ecuadorians are suffering. Our work will be to follow up on character education for citizens and the spreading of true love in families, to advance peace and to enable individuals and families to endure through the storms that appear in our lives.

We know that we can never feel your pain, but we respect your grief. We all send our prayers that everyone will be filled with the strength to deal through this.  We know that it will not be easy to forget the moments of pain…only the passage of time will heal the wounds and allow us to do so.

“United Ecuadorians can do it.”

With solidarity and love,

Executive Committee of UPF-Ecuador
