Russian Veterans Celebrate UN Day with Song

Moscow, Russia—A chorus of veterans sang songs from World War II at a concert held to commemorate United Nations Day.
Every year on October 24, the anniversary of the United Nations Charter, the member nations of the UN organize cultural programs, meetings, exhibitions, concerts and other international events, proclaiming their commitment to realize the goals of the United Nations.
The Moscow chapter of UPF celebrated the 2016 UN Day with a concert held on October 22 with the participation of the academic chorus of veterans from the "Community” House of Culture of the Northeast Administrative District. Performers sang famous songs from the era of the Great Patriotic War (World War II) as well as Russian folk songs. Young participants of the concert and family duets also showed outstanding talent and skills in various artistic genres.
All the performers received letters of acknowledgment. Dmitry Samko, the chair of the Moscow chapter of UPF, awarded Ambassador for Peace certificates to the choir of veterans of the "Community" House of Culture and their conductor, the honored worker of culture of Russia, the winner of the Sheremetyevo Award, Mikhail Kovshar.
All those present wished this wonderful team to always sing with soul and inspire the audience with their enthusiasm, and unite them in love to the fatherland.
